Not all German cars are created equal

Continuing this weird obsession with things soviet, here is a great post that talks about East Germany’s Trabant. There are a couple of videos, but I like this one the best due to the way they delicately make the car fit together.

    Hey….Got to tell you I was in East Berlin in the early 80’s. Trabis were everywhere. With their two stroke engines it sounded lika a lawnmower rally in the area around the Alexanderplatz. Or try to imagine the old “Autopia” at Disneyland times a hundred.

    Ah, the good old days of simple mechanicals, eh? Doubt that there is much problem repairing those cars down ‘to component level’!
