Project Mojave

The Vista team wanted to put something to the test. Do people hate Vista because they actually hate it, or do they hate it because they heard they should. I have to say this doesn’t surprise me. In the MojaveExperiment they showed people “the next version of Windows” and captured their reactions. They loved it, and were most surprised to find out they were actually being shown today’s Vista.

My attitude to Vista has always been that it’s a great OS, it just shouldn’t have taken 5 years to build. Of course the biggest problem with Vista, and what probably messed up the launch and its reputation, was mostly related to drivers. Not only did they change a great deal of the fundamental driver architecture, but Microsoft did a pretty poor job of driving driver development through the literally tens of thousands of hardware vendors. Today, drivers are mostly up to scratch but it has been a long hard road.

Anyway, if you haven’t tried Vista, and just think it sucks, watch the overview video at least:

P.S. I don’t have an Microsoft shares anymore….This is just my never ending response to the many beatings I got at dinner parties over the years while being a softie. <grin>
